  Why we love Candice Swanepoel

  Candice Swanepoel was born in Mooi River, KwaZulu-Natal. Been there? No, us neither, but we’re sure it’s lovely. Spotted by a model scout at a Durban flea market aged just 15, she’s since gone on to appear on catwalks around the world, wowing crowds with her svelte figure and top-of-the-range cheekbones. The model scout responsible for her discovery, Kevin Elise, once said: “It was like a beautiful flamingo walking past my shop. The way she walked past just did it for me.” We wholeheartedley concur.
  At her first meeting with a South African modeling agency, polaroids were excitingly sent on to their HQ, and soon were at an international agency in London. We’re assuming that process took a little while seeing as they were polaroids, but once the pace of the African mail system was no longer an issue and the pictures were in Blighty it took 25 minutes until a call came back saying they wanted her in the UK immediately. 25 minutes?
